I think maybe this could be expanded to "Bee King" - a novel loosely modeled on George Orwell's "Animal Farm".

Yep, and when the bees start walking upright on two legs we’re all in trouble.

Two legs good. Six legs better.

Darwin spent a lot of time thinking how bees made perfect hexagons in their honeycomb. Unless he could explain this, skeptics could claim that such perfection could only be achieved by “intelligent design i.e God.

Yeah, bees can certainly make you wonder. What really impresses me about bees is that navigation skills and ability to communicate through the waggle dance about pollen and nectar sources.

For a bizarre and (unintentionally?) hilarious take on this I strongly recommend The Bees, by Laline Paull, a novelist apparently unhindered by any knowledge of bees whatsoever. And props for mentioning my favourite bee book, Honeybee Democracy.

Ok, I hadn't heard of that novel, so I'll add that to my list of to-reads. Sounds interesting
